Director of Wholesale Sales- Full Time

The Objective

The Director of Sales is responsible for the management and growth of the wholesale sales channel. This includes planning, budgeting and implementation across all markets and industry sectors. This role is responsible for developing Horny Toad’s next phase of wholesale channel growth. The role will create the strategy for the wholesale channel for all industry sectors of Horny Toad distribution and the outdoor industry sector for Nau distribution and successfully execute that strategy to achieve an aggressive 5 year growth plan. This position is for a leader with strong management skills and a successful track record in sales and business development.

Responsibilities
  • Participate as a member of the senior leadership team as an advocate for the wholesale channels and a key participant in strategic planning at the company level.
  • Develop, implement and execute successful wholesale channel sales plan. Establish short and long term sales goals for all accounts and territories; identify key metrics to measure results. Cultivate relationships with decision makers and leaders in all key accounts and direct accounts including international partners. Expand existing account relationships and build new key dealers and channel opportunities.
  • Manage and lead independent sales force in 9 territories including ongoing evaluation of rep force. Assess sales representative incentives to better match the organizations goals and enhance quality dealer relationships and service.
  • Manage and support Dealer Services team and sales coordinator. Build a world class team; define personnel developmental needs and provide necessary training for succession. Interview, hire and train employees as necessary; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Manage to business trends and develop new opportunities and continuous improvements in the sales function. Identify and execute opportunities for functional process improvement. Work closely with operations to establish clear reporting tools to share results and track progress to goals.
  • Travel to trade shows, regional shows and key line showings to insure clear brand message and identify sales opportunities by account.
  • Plan and execute successful twice annual sales meetings.
  • Drive sales forecasting process and implement improvements for a more sophisticated process.
  • Participate in the planning of future product lines and new extensions; assist in identifying business opportunities with key items and categories that can grow business, assist with market strategy, product merchandising & pricing and communicate feedback from buyers and retailers.
  • Work with the Brand and Marketing teams to develop creative strategies to connect the brands and products with target consumers in domestic and international wholesale channels.
  • Participate in budgeting process and manage the sales department budgets, performance measurement and reporting.

    IT Manager - Full Time

    We are looking for a full time IT Manager located in Santa Barbara to support internal desktops, laptops and servers. This person will be responsible for all user support and systems administration, including but not limited to:

Horny Toad Product Developer

This job is a critical to the product development process and requires a passion for creating clothing that looks good and works, a love of how things go together and the ability to creatively problem-solve and communicate around the world. Our standards are high and the team is relentless in its drive to do everything well and right.
The product developer:
  • manages and completes style definition from design hand-off through production.
  • manages product construction, fit, documentation and communication with factories.
Essential Job Functions:
  • collaborate with design team to execute styles from initial concept to production.
  • schedule and manage fit sessions with fit models. Maintain Horny Toad fit blocks, grade rules, and fit consistency across all products. Create patterns and revise factory patterns as needed to execute fit needs.
  • maintain and communicate accurate proto specification packages, including illustrations and technical sketches, fabric and trims, construction details, bill of materials, and measurement charts.
  • track all samples associated with the product to ensure their movement through the product development process in coordination with the development calendar.
  • work with design and product teams to achieve desired costing and hit stated price point and margin goals while achieving design goals.
  • communicate effectively with factories as their primary contact on the development and confirmation of all styles.
  • collaborate with the Production Manager to determine the sourcing strategy for the season and collaborate on analysis of factory performance from a development perspective.
  • review QC issues with Production Manager and factories to evaluate and clarify issues.
  • travel to factories as needed to review seasonal development progress.
We are looking for someone with:
  • A BA/BS Degree in Apparel Design, Textiles, Garment Engineering, Costuming or similar.
  • 3 plus years of successful and progressive experience in product development.
  • excellent understanding of design through production process and supply chain.
  • ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written, with a wide variety of people and cultures.
  • aptitude for systems and systematic work and a strong attention to detail.
  • excellent computer skills with proficiency using programs such as Adobe llustrator and Microsoft Office.

Brand Manager - Full Time

The brand manager is responsible for the care and feeding of the Horny Toad image- those stories we tell about ourselves as well as the stories that are told about us. This person should embody the soul of the Horny Toad Brand, have the ability to articulate the toad values and characteristics at the drop of a hat and the ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Shepherd the look and feel of the Horny Toad brand.
  • Review the brand identity and primary messaging: (mission statement, tag line, brand characteristics and intended audience), on an annual basis, with an eye toward maintaining the essence of the brand, while evolving the reflection of that essence in order to remain relevant and compelling.
  • Turn our small group of intensely loyal customers into a much larger group of intensely loyal advocates.
  • Develop a hierarchy of annual Brand, Product and Sales stories for HT. This is done in partnership with the Director of Creative Services, the Director of Product Design, and the Marketing managers for each channel.
  • Maintain the annual story matrix and calendar.
  • Work with each channel manager to develop seasonal marketing plans that maximize the outreach and effectiveness of the stories above.
  • Manage the broadcast of our messages thru key communication channels.
  • Lead the weekly integrated marketing meetings by gathering topics, monitoring the discussions, developing action plans and making assignments for implementation.
  • Produce and manage the seasonal cross channel initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Creative Director to insure that there are appropriate creative assets to effectively reflect the seasonal stories, and that these assets are consistent with the brand look and feel.
  • Shepherd the look and feel of the Horny Toad brand.

We are looking for someone with:
  • A minimum of 3 years in either Brand Management and/or marketing communications.
  • Experience in the specialty outdoor market.
  • Ability to navigate gracefully between the sales, production and creative divisions of the company.
  • Strong working knowledge of digital technology and website design.
  • Ability to communicate exceptionally, both verbally and written, with a wide variety of people and cultures, and to influence them to do what you know they should.
  • Aptitude for systems and systematic work and a strong attention to detail, without resorting to micro management.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency using programs such as In-Design, Adobe Illustrator, Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines.
  • Ability and desire to travel.
