Position: Production Associate
Department: Production/Sourcing
Reports To: Director of Supply Chain
Location: Santa Barbara, California


The Production Associate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day deliverables related to development allocation, factory capacity planning, factory production timelines, order placement and front-to-back quality control. This position will work directly with internal functions: Product, Design, Planning & Sales and external vendors to execute to the corporate pipeline calendar. Successful candidate will execute on a process that insures efficiency and delivery precision.


  • Collaborate with Director of Supply Chain to create the sourcing strategy to accommodate current business needs as well as long term supply chain growth.
  • Work directly with assigned dealers and reps to proactively drive revenue opportunities with new and existing accounts.
  • Provide expertise and training for reps and dealers related to company reporting tools and our B2B tool.
  • Represent the company via travel to key trade shows and dealer events. Will manage all aspects of the Conservation Alliance/Toad collaborative sale.

  • Position Requriements:
  • Two years' industry experience from sales, operations or retail management/merchandising.
  • Manage relationships with factories (and agents where applicable).
  • Work with internal cross-functional peers to execute to a seasonal calendar for sample and bulk production.
  • Work closely with Design, Materials & Product on initial style & material allocation and development trouble shooting.
  • Assist with the purchasing process contemplating materials commitments, materials minimums, factory minimums, production capacity, and lead-times.
  • Assist with seasonal cost negotiations.
  • Write and execute on purchase orders (samples and bulk production).
  • Coordinate the transition from the development of our materials at the mills to the purchasing and delivery of those goods to the factories.
  • Execute on quality assurance programs for raw materials.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of raw materials to meet the production schedule.
  • Manage materials inventory and stock fabric programs.
  • Measure the performance of all factories and put appropriate strategies in place when vendors are not meeting performance goals.
  • Address any quality issues with the factory, manage charge backs if necessary and ensure measures are taken to correct the issue.

  • Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of garment and textile manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of apparel product process from concept through to order delivery from the factory for knits & wovens.
  • Working knowledge of knit fabric characteristics.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of forecasting, buy planning, and capacity planning.
  • 3-4 years of experience in a broad range of sportswear and technical knit and woven garments preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to obtain information from various systems.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal form with a diverse audience.
  • Detail oriented with strong follow through. Must be able to organize and prioritize multiple projects in a fast paced environment.

  • Essential Job Functions:
  • create innovative design concepts and effectively communicate these concepts through discussions, sketches, boards and formal line review process
  • provide complete style definition including detailed drawings, fabric description, colours, pattern and print, fit requirements, trims and BOMs to hand-off to product development
  • work with production to source appropriately to achieve design goals while meeting cost, price point and margin goals
  • communicate effectively and respectfully with global vendors and agents to achieve design and environmental goals
  • participate in design off-sites, brainstorming, line planning and de-briefings, sales meetings, cross-departmental and team-building sessions
  • travel to factories, trade shows and other events as needed to achieve desired design goals

  • Requirements:
  • College degree in apparel design
  • 5 plus years of relevant design experience
  • proficiency in Illustrator is essential, familiarity with Create Suite optimal functional in Excel

  • Position: Managing Content Editor
    Reports To: Creative Director
    Location: Santa Barbara, California


    To create/manage/steward the Horny Toad voice in all media

    Horny Toads in-house creative department directs, designs and produces all digital and print collateral related to the Horny Toad brand, product and corporate communications. This includes multiple web sites, email campaigns, print and digital workbooks/lookbooks, product graphics/labeling/hangtags, POP/in-store materials, tradeshow booth graphics/signage, photography, video, brochures, social media/blog, digital and print advertising.

    The Managing Content Editor (MCE) is responsible for the voice of Horny Toad as expressed in all communication channels. In addition to being a talented writer and editor, the MCE is creative, has a quick wit, is up for any challenge, open-minded, loves collaborating with other talented people, thrives under pressure and is driven to make great work. As part of the Creative team the MCE works with our Product, Sales, Marketing and Web teams to produce targeted, effective collateral and campaigns that are on brand and meet defined communications goals.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Concepts and copy for eComm campaigns, web site assets, digital ads
  • Social media content driven by marketing calendar
  • Bi-weekly blog posts
  • Corporate content, press releases
  • Manage freelance content contributors
  • All product-related copy

  • Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years experience as writer/editor, preferably in consumer products
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
  • Proficient in blogging platforms
  • Fluent and active on multiple social media platforms
  • Ability to work well in a team-based, deadline-driven environment
  • Self-motivated with exceptional attention to detail and quality
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent

  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in an open environment and with other teams
  • Ability to be flexible with extended work hours as necessary
