For every 10,000 garments collected we will donate $1,000 to Goodwill®
Too much of a good thing? Horny Toad has partnered with Goodwill® to help Share the Warmth this season, by asking you to donate your pre-loved clothes. The revenue from the sale of these donated items goes to funding job training and enhancing quality of life for many people in need. Also, donating clothes helps recycle usable clothing in environmentally sound ways, keeping billions of pounds of clothing out of U.S. landfills—a little added nugget of eco-love.
Not only do you reap the benefits of the philanthropy warm-and-fuzzies, but you get 15% off new Horny Toad clothes.
How it worksWe are a family that loves the outdoors! We are donating winter gear that the kids have outgrown. Coats, hats, ski pants! Also some well loved adult gear. Hope someone gets as much outside enjoyment as we have with these warm pieces.
Lisa, Vermont - gave 20 garments
In the Goodwill bin behind the Galley Hatch in Hampton, NH I dropped off a very warm, long wool coat that I loved and wore for years. It is still in great shape but it is royal blue and black goes better with my work clothes. For months I waivered because the well-loved coat is so toasty, but when I found a black coat on sale last week, I knew it was time to let someone else enjoy the purple warmth. I also dropped off two pairs of pants that no longer work with my wardrobe.
Sue Hertz Newburyport, MA - gave 3 garments
Old coats and clothes filling our closets will hopefully fill someones heart with warmth this winter. Thanks Horny Toad and Goodwill!
Adam Thornbrough, Bronx, NY - gave 35 garments
We are passing along a lot of kid's winter gear. Two winter coats, some snow pants, a bunch of other pants and shirts and some snow boots as well as a barely used pair of hiking boots. I hope others will be able to enjoy playing outside in these things as much as we did.
Aviva Grele- State College, PA - gave 15 garments

We try to re-use as much as we can! After our 3 little boys have used them (and we received much of their clothes as hand-me-downs), we've passed a lot of baby/kid clothes to a neighbor who's about to have her first child. That said, we donated 30 items to Goodwill today.
Tricia, San Francisco Bay Area, CA - gave 30 garments

We did some MAJOR cleaning out of closets and made a big donation. With kids growing out of clothes we were able to donate a lot of great condition and even some never worn kid clothing including summer clothes, winter coats, snow pants, jeans, shirts, socks and even some shoes. I hope they're a welcome gift to someone in need.

Jessica, Ruston, Louisiana - gave 75 garments
We, the Toads, took another great big load of samples from years past to the Goodwill. Sometimes you have to purge to get ready for the new stuff. Plus, the stuff wasn't doing anyone any good just sitting in a storage unit!

It feels so good to know that others can enjoy our extras. We had so much for so long, and are now unemployed and struggling economically (like so many). Our family is learning to appreciate the little things. I am so happy to donate our extra coats and clothes. But the best part is donating the wonderful holiday dresses that my daughters have out-grown.
They are barely-worn, and I know some litlle girls will enjoy them! Happy Holidays!!!
Anne, Palo Alto, CA - gave 25 garments
Was at Goodwill today with 4 boxes..it feels good to clean out and soo good to give to people who are in need. In fact, it feels better to give ..so its a win win..

Ichthy9, Cary IL - gave 72 garments
It's amazing what can accumulate. Great clothes (shirts, pants, sweaters, a coat), but not in the rotation for over a year. Out they go! So many people can use these, when I am not.
Keith, Alabama - gave 20 garments
5 pair of shoes that were barely worn - that's why I call them hand-me-overs rather than hand-me-downs. My two daughters had wonderful dress clothes and coats that they grew out of before they wore them out, so they're like getting almost new clothing. I've been donating gently worn clothing for years to a local shelter and to the "Old Will" (the name my daughter gave to the Good Will because we would always have a shopping bag set aside in our house to put things in that we didn't wear or use anymore).
Andrea Reid - gave 20 garments
In prep for our yearly chili cook-off party we cleaned our our closets and our basement and unearthed 5 big bags of clothes that we haven't worn often enough. Years working in the apparel biz yielded lots of jackets and sweaters that should keep their new owners quite warm. Thanks to Horny Toad for the motivation to make the run!
Megan, Portland OR - gave 150 garments
clearing out the basement: a never-worn, long black stadium coat 3 sizes too big for my husband; a pink leather fringe belt i loved in college but shouldn't wear again (someone will adore it); several blouses that never quite fit me right, but in great shape; hand-me-down wool dress pants.... hope these all make somebody happy!
Laura Miles, New Haven CT - gave 10 garments
3 pairs of shoes that I no longer wear. 1 computer bag that I never use. 2 winter coats that found their way out of rotation. 1 bag of clothing that be loved by someone else.
A cleaner closet for me, benefits for someone else and a "nugget of eco-love..." - works for me =)
Jenn, Santa Barbara, CA - gave 25 garments
I like knowing that the Goodwill resells saleable clothes and what CAN'T be sold, they bale up and sell as recyclable fabric/post-consumer recyclabes to be made into something else. Around it goes!
I also faithfully shop at Goodwill stores and encourage all my friends to shop there.
Lillie, Rancho Cucamonga - gave 28 garments
This represents what I have given this month. I've gone twice with big bags of clothes and will probably again after the holidys. Thnaks for the reminder!
Kathy- Stumptown, OR - gave 30 garments
Pulled a few items out that no longer fit my son. He usually takes really good care of his things, so I am happy to pass them on to others.
Jenny, Chicago, IL - gave 7 garments
I shop at Goodwill, wear the great clothes I find there, then donate them back. I think of it as renting my clothes. Recently I took my 20 year old niece to shop at Goodwill. She bought a blouse that I had donated. Even better, I originally had bought the blouse from Goodwill myself. So we are getting the maximum out of things, then getting them back into the system for others, and to keep them out of landfills.
Elise, S.F. Bay Area, CA - gave 50 garments

Joey, Lawrence KS - gave 30 garments
No sense on hanging on to that outfit that you haven't worn in over a year. If it hasn't been worn in a year? Give it a new life with someone else. They will appreciate it- the clothes AND the people.
Miracle, OH - gave 5 garments

I donated a bag of clothes recently to Goodwill that I hadn't worn in ages, some of which were actually still new. That will teach me not to impulse shop (I hope)!
I go through my clothes once a year to donate things I haven't worn in a long time, and I really, really appreciate your partnering with Goodwill.
Horny Toad is one of my favorite companies, not only because you guys make fantastic clothes, but also because you are socially conscious. I really got into Toad clothes when I was in the Peace Corps in Africa: I wrote to ask if you would give a discount (like Chacos does) to volunteers, and you totally did, which was awesome, because PCVs don't make a lot of money.
Anyway, thanks for making great clothes, and for being a generally cool, responsible company!
Alison Mickey, Oakland, CA - gave 8 garments
I not only donate clothes to the Goodwill, I'm also a customer. I enjoy creating outfits that let retro and modern collide. I'm told my style is "Retro Chic". I like the fact that others can enjoy my clothing, versus it just going to a landfill.
Julie, Seattle - gave 68 garments
I clean out the closets once a year and always donate to Goodwill. Six garbage bags this year. I gained weight and some of the clothes still had price tags on them that I never got to wear.

Melinda: Vancouver, WA - gave 10 garments
I feel good donating to Goodwill because they hire people with disabilities, and I am a teacher of the visually impaired. I also like the feeling that I am passing something on that can be of use to someone else. I shopped at Goodwill a lot when my children were small and got bargains on children's clothes and toys. I like providing bargains to others.
Becky, Maryland - gave 20 garments
I moved over the summer, and have become addicted to donating. I'm trying to go minimalist, now. It feels good to give, especially to a place that does so much to help people work.

I have frequently donated to Goodwill in the past but was surprised to see a co-worker wearing a garment similar to one I had donated. When I asked her where she had purchased it, she said "Goodwill'. I was so surprised. It feels great to give my clothes a new home by passing them on.
Terri, NC - gave 10 garments
Losing 25 lbs. took me from size L to M, and left most of my shirts and sweaters too big to wear. Took them to my local Goodwill center--where I hope they'll be just the right size to warm up someone in need--and I'll use the Horny Toad discount to replenish my wardrobe. Thanks for the great program!
Bob, CA - gave 40 garments

Carla, CA - gave 20 garments
We just moved so we did a pre-move sorting of our clothes and donated about 50 pieces of clothing. Now that we are in our new place and will unpack our clothes soon, we will go through another round of sorting to donate more. It's a nice feeling knowing someone else can still use our clothing (or other items) and an organization that helps many people will benefit. I love recycling!

My husband and I have a policy that new clothing in must be offset with an equal number of clothing items given out. It keeps our closets from swelling grotesquely with consumerism and reminds us to share with others. This campaign was made for us!
Meredith, Chicago - gave 5 garments

. . . You probably won't ever again. Moving recently was a good excuse to go through the clothes that looked pretty on a hangar, but not me. Someone else out there will. Everyone benefits, less stuff is good for your soul.

It is Thanksgiving time, but there is never only one time of the year for giving and for giving thanks. I donate my used clothing on a regular basis--nearly every season as I change out my wardrobe from winter clothing to summer, etc. Here in Maine where we have a large community of folks who are unemployed, I'm certain the clothing I donate is put to good use.

Thanks to this reminder, I took clothes I no longer wear to my local Goodwill this morning. It made me feel good because especially in this tough economic climate, shopping for new clothes has become a luxury to many people and I understand that first hand. Unfortunately I lost my job a little over one month ago, so shopping for new clothes is not in my budget.
Sarah Dougherty, Wilmington, Delaware - gave 47 garments

My daughter is often in the car with me when I drop clothes off at our local Goodwill. We talk about why we donate things. Last Christmas she asked if she could donate her bicycle because it was too small for her. Now, when we get dressed in the morning, if something is too small for her, we put it in the donate pile. When the bag is full, we drop it off at
Goodwill.

melanie matheney, santa cruz CA - gave 40 garments
I have the rule that if something new goes into my closet (or apartment), then something else must be donated... something that either doesn't fit or hasn't been worn/loved in recent months finds a new home via the Santa Barbara Goodwill on a regular basis. Living in a tiny apartment keeps the closet space at a premium!
jenn via santa barbara, ca - gave 3 garments
EAch year our local Rotary collects and dsitributes light used warm outer wera including coats, vloves hats and mittens.
A local clearner, Art Cleaners, donates all the clearnig services to the cause. We found lots of items that have plenty of life and love in them.
