Ryan is a born and bred mountain boy hailing from the People’s Republic of Boulder, where it’s not often you’ll find him inside with such an amazing playground right outside the door. He has done many amazing things in his life, but driving a car is not one of them. He’s never had a driver’s license, choosing instead to ride his Duzer Cruzer everywhere he goes. After completing two life-changing years in the Peace Corps in Honduras, he got on his bicycle and rode it home to Colorado, two years later he rode from Maine to Key West down beautiful Highway 1. This summer he rode from San Diego to Washington DC on a New Belgium cruiser bike (three gears only), clad in Horny Toad duds to raise money for a non profit called Community Cycles in Boulder Colorado. He bikes to inspire others to get out of their cars. He bikes because he loves it. He bikes because girls love riding on the handlebars.
We met Ryan through a friend of a friend when we came to hang out in Boulder for a photo shoot. We immediately noticed the fact that Ryan is a pro at having fun and smiling. He’s just one of those folks that could have fun with a wet paper bag - don't read into that one too much. In fact, he likes fun so much that he has made it his career, no really, it’s true, Ryan gets paid to have fun. He works as a freelance video journalist/TV host, working mostly with the Travel Channel. Ryan is a one-man crew, shooting, editing and hosting all his segments. His dream is to someday host his own eco adventure show. He also has a weekly outdoor/adventure web series called, Out There Guy on Daily Camera.
