Destination 3 Degrees

Destination 3 Degrees

Jenny Kalmbach and Morgan Hoesterey are two of the best female standup paddleboarders the world has seen. Their thirst for adventure has always been inspiring, but their latest idea, Destination 3° is the most remarkable yet. In April 2010, they will attempt to make their way across each of the Hawaiian channels, setting competition aside to chase the ultimate prize: ocean adventure.

Just three degrees of latitude separate the islands of Hawaii. Nine legendary and infamous open-ocean channels link them together. Drawn by ritual, necessity, competition and challenge, many have conquered and been conquered by these channels, but never in an adventure quite like this. More than just a mental, physical and emotional challenge, Destination 3° puts Jenny and Morgan in a unique and powerful position to raise awareness and funds to help benefit Algalita Marine Research Foundation in their mission to understand and protect the oceans from the impacts of plastics contamination.

Three degrees over an expanse of water may be a challenge, but in the end, the real challenge is stoking the fires of adventure and awareness of the world that makes it all possible. Jenny and Morgan’s passion for making a difference, in and out of the water, and for finding adventure in the everyday makes them really cool people (and honorary Toads). Track their adventures on their home page, Facebook and Twitter.
