Just because the economy has slowed down, doesn't mean you have to - the fun must go on! This summer lots of us are opting out of the exotic vacations to far-flung places in favor of the staycation or road trip.

Wherever you end up going we want you to send us a Post Card from the Edge. Submit a photo on our site (or snail mail us a postcard) with a caption about that roadside attraction, strangely worded sign, or something that just made you do a double take - ya know, like that huge cow you found in Colorado ... weird but hilarious.

So, hit the open road or even your own town, and show us the quirky things you saw this summer vacation. Join us in our crusade against the mundane and get entered into a drawing for some killer prizes that will extend your vacation.

Working on a mapping project for a field class at our local ski hill, we notice the lift is running. We look up to see a man riding it down the hill, politely giving us a nod. Hancock, MI.

One of 100 disturbing mutations of nature at Prairie Dog Town along I-80 in Oakley Kansas. Beyond the gates into the pay area lives a 5 legged cow and a 6 legged cow, and a few mutant goats. Well, and of course dozens of twitchy prairie dogs.

The Elvis Is Alive! Museum in Wright City, MO is an homage to one man's belief that Elvis is, in fact, still alive. Inside one can purchase a copy of the "evidence" of this - a lengthy paper trail that leads to a living, breathing King, as compiled by the deceased former owner (the wife still runs the place). Along side aisles of camping supplies, cans of baked beans and tuna, and Elvis souvenirs is a re-enacted display of Elvis' wake, complete with fake Elvis in the coffin. Pictured is one of the many Cadillacs Elvis purchased as a gift for a fan.

Training the next generation of nature caretakers and enthusiasts we hike with our baby (here 8 months) regularly in the Colorado mountains. This day it was rainy, but we were still out and lovn' it! We have found an entire new genre of the outdoor love via our son and are grateful for that! He also has a new cousin born in Santa Barbara on June 10, 2009! We would LOVE to be able to meet her!!!!! (I choose to carry our son because I LOVE it!)

I guess the difference between hiking on the Italian side of the Alps versus the Swiss side is that there are more random bathtubs left in the middle of nowhere in Italy.

"Don't try this at home!"

Molly and I are trained professionals, so whenever I load up the big rig to haul production gear between Aspen and the Front Range, she always comes along.
Mountains high or rivers low, a roadtrip just wouldn't be the same without Molly along. Blind since she was a puppy, Molly knows its not where you're going but who you're going with that's the key to adventure....

That, and someone who lets you put your head through the steering wheel never hurt either.
