Croquet is the ideal game for this season.  We know that’s a bold statement… there are so many great ways to pass a summer evening.  But we think croquet rules because it incorporates precision, creativity and the high potential for success as a drinking game.

Here are the official Horny Toad basic guidelines:

1. Like a good dinner party you need 2 – 6 players.

2. Terrain for the course may vary, meaning you can play it anywhere!  We say play often and everywhere.

3.  All participants must hold a piece of bacon.  Whomever Norm (or the most finicky dog present) first approaches gets to hit the ball first.

4.  You’re trying to to get a ball through a course of wickets.  It’s acceptable to knock other people’s balls out of your way to do so.  When this happens, you should hand the ball back to its owner and say “good game.”  This shows that you’re both a good sport and a champion.

5.  Many complicated rules apply to croquet (look ‘em up), but the most important thing to remember is that this is the perfect thing to drink while playing:

2 measures of good gin

splash of St. Germaine liqueur

lemon wedge garnish

Instructions:  Mix ingredients in our Toad Traveler canteen and swirl gently.  Pour over ice and garnish with a lemon wedge.  Perfection!
